The Details tab has six main areas: general, location, cost, milestone, prioritization, and funding information. These areas serve different functions for the user. The second area on the Details tab is known as Locations, and it lies directly under the general area. This portion serves as a central space for viewing, editing, and adding locations to a selected project. The area hosts a Locations table with an available "Add Location" button, allowing the user to input locations to be listed on the table.
View/Edit Location
The user can view the locations associated to the project on the Locations table. This table includes the following columns:
| Column Types | Description |
| Location Type | This is the Location Type for the added location (Route Segment, Bridge Point, Point, Boundary Area, New Polygon, New Line, or New Point). |
| Name |
This is the Name of the location, whether system generated or manually inputted. |
| Route/Bridge ID | This is the Route ID for a Route Segment or Bridge ID for a Bridge Point. This field will be blank for all other location types. |
| BMP | This is the Begin Milepoint for the Route Segment or the Bridge Milepoint for the Bridge Point. This field will be blank for all other location types. |
| EMP | This is the End Milepoint for the Route Segment or the Bridge Milepoint for the Bridge Point. This field will be blank for all other location types. |
| Length | This is the calculated Length of the Route Segment. For all other types, this field will display N/A. |
| Delete ( |
This icon allows the user to delete the location record. |
| Edit ( |
This icon allows the user to edit the location record. |
As mentioned above, the user can edit a project's location by selecting the edit icon () on the desired location record row. Then, the "Add Location" pop-up will appear, allowing the user to edit any field associated to the location type. This action will follow the same logic as described below in the "Add Location" sections.
Add Location
Locations can be added to a project by selecting the "Add Location" button. Selecting this tool will minimize the current interface and display a pop-up on the map window. The pop-up's content will vary by Location Type. There are seven location types to choose from: Route Segment, Bridge Point, Point, Boundary Area, New Polygon, New Line, and New Point. Once the user selects the location type, they will be prompted with relevant fields and actions.
NOTE: Only locations of similar types can be added to the same project. So, a project can be made up of Route Segments, Bridge Points, and Points, OR it can be made up of only Boundary Areas, only New Polygons, only New Lines, or only New Points. Once a project location is initially added, the "Location Type" picklist will disable the noncorresponding types when new locations are being added to the project.
Route Segment
If the Route Segment location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Route, Route ID, From, and To fields on the pop-up. To add the route, the user will first zoom to the intended area on the map. Once the route is viewable on the map, the user can click the icon next to the Route ID header, then click the desired route. A route selection will fill the Route ID field. If more than one route exists near the selected location, the user will be presented with a route options map pop-up. The arrow keys in the lower right corner of the map pop-up can be used to find the correct route and select it. Once the "Show Route" button is clicked, the Route ID field will be filled.
After the route is chosen, the user must select a begin and end milepoint. These values can be selected through four methods:
- Manually enter values in the "To" and "From" textboxes.
- Click the
icons to select any milepoint on the map along the route; this will fill the textbox with the corresponding milepoint value.
- Click the
and
icons to set the values to the beginning and ending points on the route; this will fill the textbox with the corresponding milepoint value.
- Use a combination of these methods (textboxes,
,
,
).
The user can click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface once the Route ID, To, and From fields are filled.
Bridge Point
If the Bridge Point location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Bridge ID, Route ID, and Milepoint fields on the pop-up, and the Bridges layer will be visible on the map. All bridges will be displayed as points on the map. To select a bridge, the user can zoom toward the intended point, select the icon, and click the point on the map. This selection will fill the Bridge ID and Route ID fields. The Route ID value can be altered by selecting its
icon if desired. Once the Bridge ID and Route ID fields have the appropriate values, the Milepoint icon (
) can be used to select a point on the highlighted route/bridge. The user can click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface once the Bridge ID, Route ID, and Milepoint fields are filled.
Point
If the Point location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Route ID and Milepoint fields on the pop-up, and the Routes layer will be visible on the map. To select a point, the user can zoom toward the intended point, select the icon, and click the point on the map. This selection will fill the Route ID field. Then, the Milepoint icon (
) can be used to select a point on the highlighted route/point. The user can click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface once the Route ID, and Milepoint fields are filled.
Boundary Area
If the Boundary Area location type is selected in the picklist, a "Boundary" picklist will appear below the "Location Type" picklist to specify the selection. In the "Boundary" picklist, there are five options: Statewide, Division, County, MPO/RPO, and Municipality. The selection here will determine the steps needed to add a Boundary Area location type.
| Boundary Type | Steps |
| Statewide | No additional selections are needed. |
| Division | A division must be selected in the "Divisions" picklist. |
| County | A county must be selected in the "County" picklist. |
| MPO/RPO | A MPO or RPO must be selected in the "MPO/RPO" picklist. |
| Municipality | A municipality must be selected in the "Municipality" picklist. |
The user can select the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface once all required picklists are filled.
New Polygon
If the New Polygon location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Location Name field on the pop-up. The icon beside the Location Name field enables the user to make points on the map to create a polygon. Once selected, the user can click points on the map to make the shape. When the last point is made, the user can double-click it to indicate the shape is complete. Then, the user must type a name in the "Location Name" field before saving; the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface saves the new location.
New Line
If the New Line location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Location Name field on the pop-up. The icon beside the Location Name field enables the user to make points on the map to create a line. Once selected, the user can click points on the map to make the shape. When the last point is made, the user can double-click it to indicate the shape is complete. Then, the user must type a name in the "Location Name" field before saving; the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface saves the new location.
New Point
If the New Point location type is selected in the picklist, the user will be able to view the Location Name field on the pop-up. The icon beside the Location Name field enables the user to make a point on the map. Once selected, the user can click on the map to make the point. Then, the user must type a name in the "Location Name" field before saving; the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Add Location interface saves the new location.
