The NCDOT STIP Manager application displays 4 functional areas upon first entry into the application: (1) Main Menu (2) Utility Bar, (3) Legend, and (4) Map Frame. Each of these are shown in the image below, with corresponding numbers to the list above.
(1) Main Menu
There are six items on the Main Menu: Map, Projects, Actions, Dashboard, Reports, and STIP. The tools offered through the Map menu item will already be displayed in a ribbon format below the menu titles upon first entering the application. The icons on the Map tab are selectable icons that can be used in conjunction with the Map Frame. As each of the remaining menu items are clicked, the user will be able to enter related interfaces for editing and managing purposes.
The "STIP" option is the only menu item in this section that does not have an editing interface. Rather, this item is used to select the desired STIP. A selection here will affect the data in each interface, given that the displayed data is based on the selected STIP.
(2) Utility Bar
The Utility Bar provides administrative and user capabilities alongside additional help with the system. This tool consists of five icons which are explained in the Utility Bar section of the Help Guide.
(3) Legend
The Legend displays a list of available map layers that can be turned on/off by clicking the appropriate checkbox. The legend menu is displayed upon opening the application, but it can be hidden/re-opened by clicking the arrow control, caret (), to its immediate right.
(4) Map Frame
The Map Frame is used to display STIP information visually. A variety of controls for the Map Frame permit the user to zoom to an area of interest if desired.
