The Map interface hosts icons across its screen which helps users interact with the map and/or data stored in the application. In order to utilize these resources, the user must recognize these symbols and their functions. Let's take a closer look at the seven provided icons to familiarize ourselves with those in place for this STIP Viewer application.
-
-- Zoom in: Enlarges the map; users can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in.
-
-- Zoom out: Reduces the map size; users can also use the mouse wheel to zoom out.
-
-- Find my location: Zooms the map to the user’s current GPS location if enabled.
-
-- Default map view: Zooms the map to the state boundary.
-- Switch Basemap: Opens a list of available basemaps for the user to select.
-- Official STIP: Opens a Comprehensive STIP Report PDF using approved and published data from the Active STIP.
-- Future STIP: Opens a Comprehensive STIP Report PDF using approved and published data from the Board Approved STIP; if no Board Approved STIP is available, this icon will not be visible.
Each icon listed is accessible on the map interface. Users can reference this list as a reminder for the functionality of the icons, but they can also simply hover their mouse over the unknown icon to display its given name/tooltip.
