The Reports module allows users to view STIP Manager data through a selection of pre-formatted Simple and Standard Reports or to create Advanced Reports with custom inputs and outputs. This module sits beside the Dashboard module. Only those with the permissions to run all three report types will be able to view all the tabs.
Look
The Reports interface will open to the Simple Reports tab by default. The user's screen should look similar to the image below after clicking on "Reports," with the Simple Reports generator centered and the other two report types viewable in the top right corner.
STIP & Revision Selection
The STIP selected in the main header will be used by default in the three report tabs. If the user wants to run reports for an Active, Board Approved, or Historical STIP, they will be required to select a revision to run the report. Selecting a revision will run the approved version for the selected month and year. If the user wishes to include pending changes with the approved revision, the user will select the latest revision date with the plus sign. For example: “06/2022 +”.
Report Types
The Simple Report type is found on the first tab of the Reports Interface. It allows the user to run a selection of pre-formatted reports with limited filter capability. The NCDOT STIP Manager has only two options for reports on this tab for now; they are Project Comparison and Project Summary. These options make it easy for Guest users of the system, or users with limited knowledge, to quickly create a report. These reports display data types and formats that are known and predictable.
The Standard Report type is found on the second tab of the Report Interface. It also allows users to run a selection of pre-formed reports; however, this type has more report options available and includes an ad-hoc filter capability for further filtering. The report options are Comprehensive STIP, Fiscal Constraint Analysis, Revision Summary (Item N), Revision History, MPO Summary, Project Comparison, Project History, Project Summary, and STI Summary. This tab will only be available to those with STIP Administrator and optional Standard Reports permissions. Similar to the Simple Reports, these reports display data types and formats that are known and predictable.
The Advanced Reports type prompts users to build and execute ad-hoc queries against all data residing in the STIP Manager database. From this interface, users will be able to define criteria and select output columns for the ad-hoc report.
